waiting list
For those families that are seeking a companion only dog, we accept two different deposits:
~ a deposit "A" to reserve a young/newborn puppy from a specific litter until puppy is old enough to be placed with a family (8 weeks old). The deposit "A" is a $1000
~ a deposit "B" - to be added to our waiting list and be considered for a puppy from a future litter (when no puppies are available or not yet born). The deposit "B" is $500 and additional $500 will be due once a puppy is born and reserved by the family (your deposit "B" ultimately becomes a deposit "A")
Please note that our deposits are non-refundable. We will answer any questions BEFORE a deposit is accepted and spend as much time as needed with each family to make sure our breeding program and vision are a perfect fit for the family and a family is a perfect fit for one of our puppies. We are providing plenty of references, including a veterinarian reference.
We are a small-scale breeder and only produce a few litters every year. Each and every puppy is handpicked and raised in love and harmony, just the way Nature Intended. We pride ourselves in the way we raise our dogs and puppies and are confident our puppies are worth waiting for.
Before a deposit is accepted, DEPOSIT CONTRACT must be signed. VGH never sells puppies without getting to know potential buyers first and agreeing to sell a puppy to them. We remain a right to refuse a sale, if we believe one of our puppies will not be a good fit for the family/individual. We remain a right to ask for at least three references, including a vet reference. We do not sell to puppy mills or pet stores. Puppies with full rights are to approved homes only.
The following forms of payments are accepted:
Cash (in person only, please do not mail cash!)
Personal Check/Money Order
Zelle or Venmo Transfer
PayPal transfer (as friends and family option ONLY)
Electronic invoice paid with a card online (card processing fees added)
Electronic Payment through GoodDog
Placing a deposit for available puppies (DEPOSIT A):
If we have a litter of puppies born in our kennel and some puppies (under age of 8 weeks) are not reserved (we do not have a deposit accepted for them) then those puppies are considered "available for reservations". A family/individual can place a deposit to reserve those available puppies. A deposit form is signed and the remaining balance (that will be due at the time of pick up) and a date of a pick up is entered into the deposit form. Family will be updated weekly with images and provided with litter development updates. We believe in matching a puppy with each family and therefore remain a right of choice when placing puppies with families. We do not honor "first come - first served" practice and never sell "first pick", "second pick" and so on. We observe the litters and do temper test around 6-7 weeks of age to ensure best match with a family based on puppy's temperament and lifestyle of the family. A family can pick up the puppy at age of 8 weeks(+five days - we allow flexible timing for a pick up as we schedule that pick up time in advance, so each family has their travels arranged in advance). If a family changes their mind about purchasing a puppy - a deposit form is being void and deposit will not be refunded.

Placing a deposit for a future litter (DEPOSIT B):
All our litters are planned in advance and in most cases are reserved in advance. One may wonder: HOW is this possible? How do you get puppies reserved even BEFORE they are born? Well, we accept deposits for "future litters". A family/individual can place a deposit to reserve a puppy from a litter that is not yet born to ensure their spot on a waiting list. A deposit form is signed at the time a deposit is placed and approximate timing is discussed. Each family on our waiting lists received updates about litters, pregnancies and plans for breeding by email. Once puppies are born, the families from the waiting list are contacted in the order a deposit has been accepted and each family is provided with an opportunity to apply their deposit to reserve a puppy from a litter, if available.
Families have two options:
If family agrees to use their deposit towards a puppy: An additional $500 is collected and pick up date is entered into the deposit form and the deposit form "B" ultimately becomes a deposit form "A".
If family decides not to apply the deposit towards the offered puppy: they remain on a waiting list without loosing their spot and will be contacted with the next litter and so on.
GENDER: It is understood, that we can not guarantee a gender in a future litter - so, if a family from the waiting list wants a puppy of a specific gender then their place on a waiting list matters, as the priority is given to those families that placed their deposit earlier. For example, if there is only one male puppy, a family that placed their deposit earlier is contacted first and this puppy is offered to them. If a puppy of a desired gender is not available - family has an option to use the deposit towards a puppy of a different gender in a litter OR to remain on a waiting list for the future litters without loosing their spot on a waiting list.

Here we want to provide an example of how this works:

Let's say we have ten families on a waiting list with Deposits "B" accepted.

Deposits are numbered in the order as they are accepted:

008, 009, 010, 011, 012, 013, 014, 015, 016, 017.
All ten families receive updates on the pregnancy, puppy count X-rays, etc.

A litter is born - red and black, 7 puppies: 5 Males and 2 Females. Families are updated in an order a deposit is placed:
~ Family 1 deposit #008: Hello! we had a litter of 7 puppies born, five males and two females, 5M/2F are available. would you like to use your deposit? towards a male or a female? Great! (one male is reserved)
~ Family 2 deposit #009 wants a solid black puppy - asks to hold their deposit for next litter; becomes Family 1 on the updated list

We understand that many families are not happy that they will have to wait for some time to receive a puppy from our program and there is no guarantee of gender. But we are a small quality breeder and only produce a few litters every year. There are larger breeding programs and pet stores, where an individual can come and purchase a puppy the same day. We almost never have that being possible. We believe that raising a puppy must be done with the same level of love and care, as bringing a child into the world. We also say that great things only come to those that can wait. Working with families that are willing to wait also ensures to us that families are absolutely responsible in the decision to add a pet and their decision is not impulsive or driven by emotions.

Commonly asked questions in regards to deposits:

If I was first on a waiting list does it mean that I will be the first to pick/choose a puppy?
No. We do not practice "first pick", "second pick" and so on. Spot on a waiting list only matters to determine if we have available puppies from a litter or if a family will have to wait until the next litter. Once a deposit is applied, the deposit number is annulled and everyone is treated the same - we remain a right to offer puppies from a litter for each family. Puppies that are sold with FULL AKC are chosen first to breeding and show programs.

Can you move me higher on a waiting list if I paid more?
That is absolutely a NO. We honor our promises with all our families and will not play any games in moving families on a waiting list to offer them puppies sooner.

How much is your pick of the litter puppy?
We do not offer "pick of the litter" nor we believe that a buyer can definitely know which puppy is the alpha in the litter by spending very limited time observing the litter.

Will you refund me a deposit if I changed my mind about purchasing a puppy?
Our deposits are non-refundable. We spend plenty of time with each family BEFORE a deposit is placed and follow up with updates as we have mating/labor happen. We provide honest and clear communication about where a family will be in line on a waiting list and once a deposit is accepted, it is non-refundable. It is important to also understand that other families perhaps have chosen a different breeding program, because of where they would be on a waiting list if placed a deposit with us - some families don't want to be further in line and wait longer, and ultimately every deposit that is accepted in our breeding program affects many more families, than just us. We guarantee that we will offer a puppy within desired characteristics (of a desired gender, coat length/color) at least once within 12-months period from a date a deposit has been placed. If we are not confident that we can offer a puppy within next 12-months, we will not accept a deposit.
Does my deposit expire?
No, a deposit does not expire. A family can apply it to any litter within the 12 months. It is our guarantee that we will offer a puppy with a desired characteristic (gender, coat length or color) within 12 months.

Will you share the deposit list?
We do not disclose any private information about our buyers. Our waiting list is not posted anywhere. When we update all families on our waiting list that are hoping for a puppy from a nearest litter, we may include our waiting list with FIRST NAMES only - this ensures our transparency with all families.
